New Terrain Announced for Christmas!

We made more snow last night! In the last few days we’ve been able to catch up on our snowmaking volume, making snow in all the places we’ve traditionally made it. Currently our crew is focusing our snow guns on Don Diego, Faline under Lift 5, Smart Chicken under Lift 4 and a few “hot spots” underneath Lift 3. Hot spots are places on the mountain that have an eastern exposure, meaning they receive heavy morning sun. We’ve also been able to make snow on Gamble, and have pushed out snow at the bottom of Salt Lick. We’re planning on opening Don Diego (terrain park to come after the holidays), Faline and Smart Chicken over Christmas.

Snowmaking continues as we push to open more terrain before Christmas!

The USSA Southern Series held at Sipapu this past weekend was a huge success! The turnout was terrific—we had 35 racers on the first day and 48 on the second! We were very honored to have the event sponsored by the University of New Mexico Ski Team, who competed here on Sunday. We even had a World Cup racer on the mountain! Seeing those racers take those sharp turns around the gates out there was really inspiring!
