Hickenlooper's budget cut one more shortcoming for Colorado higher education

A history of failure
CO has maintained its rank as the 48th lowest state in the country for higher education funding. Not so coincidentally, tuition costs have risen over 30% since 2008.
2014 and 2015 saw tuition increases under 6% because they were capped by lawmakers. Now, however, the tuition increases will be capped by the college and university boards.
Fort Lewis's tuition has risen 64% already since 2010- that translates to a cost increase of $2,164
for residents. Additionally, student fees have risen 10.7%, or $164, since 2010.

The college stands to make $118,677 for a 1% increase in resident tuition.
